Tinwolf Reflective Vest - Mike Ryan makes himself visible at night with a touch of style thrown in
Are you are worried that you're not as visible on your bike as you would like to be, particularly at night? But don't want to look like a boring Mr Safety with the standard reflective stripes jacket or Sam Browne belt? Then I would suggest you look at a very interesting product from a small UK manufacturer.
Tinwolf produce reflective vests. Nothing unusual in that, but instead of the standard reflective stripes they have reflective designs on them, such as bats, ghosts, wolves, Spiderman logo and so on. The vests themselves are made from a strong black mesh material that looks like it would stand up well to extended wear in any sort of weather. Being a rather large hole mesh it allows air to flow through it and so doesn't billow at speed, also it has a rather good side adjustment which ensures the jacket can be tightened so again it won't blow about in the wind.
The fastening is a cord that goes through metal grommets on both sides and is secured with a spring- loaded grip. Even the cord is reflective, as is the webbing hem around the outside of the vest. Also the side fastening has supports in the hem so if you hitch the vest tight it won't crumple up and lose it's shape. The zip is a good strong type, again it looks like it would stand up to bad weather.
The design I wanted wasn't on their web site so I contacted them to see if they could produce the Moto Morini logo of an eagle on top of two Ms on the back and some flames on the front from a design on their site. And as you can see from the images they made a great job. Verdict: They're not exactly cheap at £30 each compared to other reflective vests, but I think they're worth it!
